Liquid Nitrogen's Surprising Dance on Pluto A new analysis of data from NASA's New Horizons spacecraft has provided evidence that liquid nitrogen may be seeping onto Pluto's frozen surface.
The findings, led by Southwest Research Institute Associate Vice President Dr.
Alan Stern, suggest that liquid nitrogen is rising through cracks in the Sputnik Planitia glacier and reaching the surface near its northern edge.
